Top 10 Favorite Movies

Need an idea of what to watch for a movie night? I’ve got 10 ideas! These are movies I would recommend. I love these movies so much and can’t get enough of them! Don’t judge me if I like these movies. Side note: I have seen all of these movies with my parents’ permission to a) watch my by myself b) watch with them in the room or c) watch with our movie filter.

The Princess Bride (1987)

Ahhhhh. The Princess Bride. What a classic! I seriously LOVE this movie! My family and I quote it all the time. I’ve seen this movie dozens of times since I was 5. It probably will be my all time favorite. Such a great movie for all ages. It has love, action, humor, betrayal, drama, everything!

Content: mild language, violence, one disturbing scene, one suicide attempt

The Count of Monte Cristo (2002)

Wow. This is a gooooood one. This is a story that revolves around betrayal and revenge. It’s so exciting and has twists and turns everywhere! Great movie for a movie night or one to watch with your history class while studying the French Revolution and Napoleon Bonaparte. If you have a hard time hearing what is being said through accents, you may want to turn on the subtitles. We have a few French accents, a couple American, a couple English, and a lot of French words being pronounced that makes life hard on everyone who is not French.

Content: violence, one suicide attempt, infidelity (but not explicitly seen), and romance

Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)

Oh my heart! This is a really good movie too, but TOM HOLLAND ❤ This movie is so funny and really good. If you haven’t seen this, shame on you. Cherish this movie with all your heart before you see Avengers: Infinity War (still crying about that whole movie). Spider-Man: Homecoming is the best rendition of Spider-Man I’ve seen yet, and this is coming from a loyalist to Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man trilogy (Andrew Garfield’s was trash).

Content: fairly harsh language for a Marvel movie (one partial use of the “f-bomb”), violence, lying, a couple scenes where Spider-Man is in his boxers, but it isn’t in a sexual way. He just had to undress to get in/out of his suit.

Aladdin (1992)

Confession. I LOVE Disney movies and I really want to go back to Disney World. We went when I was 5 and I don’t really remember it.

Also, side note, I didn’t know this guy is the voice of Aladdin until a few months ago:

I loved him in Full House and Fuller House! (yay for season 4!)

Ok. Back on track now.

You can never go wrong with watching a Disney movie.

Content: cartoon violence, lying, stealing

The Greatest Showman (2018)

WOOOOOOOOAAAOOOOOOOOOOH! This movie has a great story, message, and soundtrack. There have been quite a lot of junky movies coming out lately and it’s nice to now have one that’s actually good! Ever since the trailer when I heard a snipet of Rewrite the Stars and got goosebumps, I’ve been in love with this movie. Yes, it’s been over hyped, but just ignore that and enjoy the movie!

Content: a little violence, drinking, lying, a little mild language, a tad bit of romance

Ever After (1998)

My girl. Fries before guys!!!!!

This is such a cute romance movie! It is a Cinderella story and is probably my favorite out of the ones that have been made.

Content: language, violence, romance, sensuality, betrayal

Twilight Saga (2008-2012)

XD This cracks me up for some reason XD XD XD XD

I’m gonna get judged for this, but this series is so good! The first movie is cringy and I can barely watch it, but the rest is AMAZING! I know the world moved on from the vampire and werewolf phase, but that doesn’t change the greatness of these movies! Don’t ask me to choose a side because I don’t know for myself. I used to be team Edward, but I’m not so sure anymore.

Content: language, violence, gore, sexuality, nudity, alcohol use, spiritual content, and reckless behavior

Newsies (2017) I know it’s a Broadway play, but I don’t care. It’s been recorded and put on Netflix so it’s a movie in my eyes

My friend Caroline got me hooked on this. She loves musicals and she would dress as these guys during spirit week if she could. I saw it was on Netflix, and decided to give it a try. Thirty minutes in, I text Caroline to tell her I’m on the bandwagon. The singing, dancing, acting, story, everything is just superb because I got tired of saying “AMAZING” over and over.

Content: mild language, romance, a little violence, lying, stealing

High School Musicals (2006-2008)

If you need a good cry, here it is. But always remember, MYYYY HEARRRRT WILLLLL GO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON AND OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This movie will live on forever as one of the best movies of all time. So many people say this is their favorite movie and I have a couple friends who say that.

Content: language, lying, gambling, smoking, drinking, nudity, sexuality, intense scenes, one suicide, one failed suicide attempt

Cheap Things To Do This Summer (With Friends)

Summer is so freaking close! Our exams start next Friday, but for my Debate class, I’m taking this Monday so every debate can be fit in before school gets out. Soon we will have all this free time and will be able to catch up on all this sleep we’re loosing from studying for finals. But once we have all this time on hand, what are we going to do with it? Here are some fun and cheap things to do this summer! Most of these can be done with a group of friends or even as a date!

Movie night with your friends!

I’ve done this before and it is always so much fun! Choose someone’s house (preferably someone who has a Netflix subscription), pick some movies, and make everyone who comes bring one snack–salty snacks for boys, sweet snacks for girls. Whoever is hosting this shindig provides the drinks. If you want movie ideas, hit me up in the comments! Ideally, you’d want an outdoor movie night or even a drive-in movie theater. Those are my favorite!

Homemade Slip-N-Slide

I did this last summer! Me and my brother went to my friend Meg and her brother’s house. We made this massive Slip-N-Slide from an old tarp. What you do is take this tarp, place it on a hill (if you don’t have a hill, just a flat field area should work too), put dish soap (like Dawn or the off-brand equivalent to it) or baby oil all over it and grab the hose. Set the hose up in a way that there is a constant stream of water or have someone hold it while the others slide down. You can also spray people with the hose water to get soaked!

“Mall Dress Up”

download

This isn’t your childhood dress up time. This is a little different. Grab all your friends and go to the mall. Everyone has to partner up with someone (this also makes a great date for you non-single people). Each person picks out the worst outfit they can find in the store you’re currently in for their partner to try on. You can grab men’s and women’s clothes for your partner, regardless of their gender. This makes it all the more silly and fun! Then, go to the dressing room of your gender to change and come out to show the whole crew. If you want, you can make it even more cringy by making a “fashion show” of sorts. YouTuber’s Brooklyn and Bailey did this with a few of their friends and it cracked me up! They also have other ideas in that video so check that out too!

Park Day

I did this not too long ago. A group of my brother’s friends went to a local park and played ultimate frisbee and I tagged along with one of my friends. We played for a long while and just hung out. Afterwards, they went to a local ice cream joint and ate some ice cream. Me and my brother didn’t get to go to that part, but my friend told me all about it! You don’t even have to play ultimate frisbee. You can play volleyball, pickup basketball, two-hand-touch, manhunt, and loads of other games! Once everyone is tired and sweaty, raid a restaurant or snack shack for frozen treats.

This can be at someone’s pool, lake, or river. I need not explain this because everyone goes swimming in the summer!

Game Night

This is one of my personal favorites! Hit up your friends and invite them over to play card games and board games. Let me know in the comments if you want some suggestions. I have a ton of games!

Poker Night

I know in Christian circles poker is controversial. This is with chips and no money is involved. You can have a big poker game or even a tournament if you’re feeling spicy! I know Texas Holdem is really popular in my school, so I wouldn’t be surprised if we have a poker night over at our house. I am an amazing Texas Holdem player. But if you do have poker night, make sure to play “Poker Face” by Lady Gaga at some point. It’s a must!

Bonfire (on the beach if at all possible)

I love love LOVE bonfires! I love going home and smelling like smoke. It’s a comforting smell. Also, be sure to invite your friend with the nice bluetooth speaker so you can play some sweet tunes. This is also fun because you can spontaneously start dancing or even swing dancing! Disney music must be welcome if I’m ever to attend.

Airsoft War

These people took it a little WAY too seriously!

Lastly, we have an Airsoft War. I have a friend that has an Airsoft war at his house bimonthly. This is a great thing to do, just be careful to not get overheated in the gear, and WEAR GOGGLES! A face mask is ideal (I got hit in the nostril once. That was NOT fun!), but at least wear goggles to protect your eyes.

I hope you try at least one of these ideas this summer! After you try it out, let me know how it went below in the comments. If you have any fun memories from trying out one of these activities, please share it with me in the comments!

I’ve seen going around this Buddy Meter quiz you can make to see how well your friends know you. Most of these questions don’t cover things that matter, but I found a quiz of sorts that does. 2. What is one thing you regret having done or not done in your life?

3. Which parent do you identify with the most?

4. What do you think you cook or bake the best?

5. If you could change your first name what would it be?

6. Can you hula hoop?

7. What embarrasses you the most in front of other people?

8. Have you considered running for president?

9. If you had to choose one thing you were most passionate about, what would it be and why?

10. Who are you most envious of—real or fictional—and why?

11. Where is the most beautiful place on earth and why?

12. Are ghosts real?

13. Are aliens real?

14. How old is the most expired item in your fridge?

18. Do you know how to play dominoes?

19. What’s under your bed?

20. Have you ever prank called someone?

21. 100 kittens or 3 baby sloths?

22. Are you proud of what you’re doing with your heart and time right now?

23. Why or why not?

38. Which famous person would you like to be BFFs with?

39. Is there something you wish you had said sorry for but never did?

40. Is there anything I can do that will make your heart rest easier? Your life run smoother?

Once you have asked your friend this, what happened? Did you grow closer? Did you laugh at y’all’s answers? Did you realize you didn’t know that much about them in the first place, or was this someone you just met and wanted to get to know more? Let me know! I plan to ask my squad this and I’ll do a follow up post with what happened 🙂
